Health Matters is a weekly radio show sponsored by the Medicine Center Pharmacy on WHBC 1480 AM in Canton, Ohio. This episode pharmacists Brad White and Paul White discuss healthy eating tips with Sereen Zawahri Krasuna, MS, RDN, LD, Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital Weight Management.
Holiday weight gain is a common concern for many adults. Holiday parties and traditions may encourage overeating, sedentary behavior, and consumption of calorie-rich foods. In fact, between mid-November and mid-January, adults gain an average of 1 to 5 pounds.
This may not seem like a lot, but most people don’t lose this extra weight. Therefore, holidays — no matter the time of year — may be one of the biggest contributors to your total annual weight gain.
That said, holiday weight gain is not inevitable. This morning we will talk with Sereen and get some tips and wisdom for healthy eating during the holidays.
